Barb Wells

Barb Wells serves as the clinical supervisor at VOICES of Stephenson County.  She oversees all counseling staff and counseling programs. Barb is a licensed clinical social worker(LCSW), receiving her bachelor’s of social work degree at Illinois State University in 1996 and completing her master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois in 2002, with a mental health emphasis. 

She began her career working at Assault and Abuse Services of Stephenson County where she was the services coordinator for the Sexual Assault Program.  After receiving her LCSW, she began providing therapy for child and adult survivors of sexual violence. In 2014, Assault and Abuse Services closed their agency, and joined with VOICES DV to form VOICES of Stephenson County. 

Barb supervises a staff of four Counselors who provide individual and group counseling for children, adults and their families who have experienced sexual or domestic violence.  She also is trained in basic EMDR, which is a specialized trauma therapy and provides trainings on mindfulness, sand tray, trauma, and vicarious trauma. In addition to her VOICES’ responsibilities, Barb is a member of the Program and Executive committees for the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault.  She also provides mental health consultation for the Tyler’s Justice Center Multidisciplinary Team. 

Outside of VOICES, Barb is a board member of the Forrestville Valley Education Foundation. She enjoys traveling, gardening, scrapbooking, and game nights with family and friends.
