Our staff and advocates provide assistance, support, information, and referral to victims of sexual assault or abuse through crisis intervention, which is available 24 hours a day at the emergency room or law enforcement agency.
Staff and advocates are available to attend or accompany victims to court proceeding in cases where the assault results in an arrest. Assistance is also provided in obtaining a sexual assault Civil No Contract Order. A Civil No Contact Order is a civil remedy available to victims of sexual assault. It is a legal document that requires the offender to stay away from the victim. View more information HERE.
A Therapist offers services to children and adults who have current or past experiences with sexual assault or abuse. Therapy services are designed to help victims and their loved ones heal from their traumatic experience.
All services are free and confidential. The sexual assault does not have to be reported to qualify for services.

Our Prevention Educator teaches youth in Stephenson County important strategies to protect themselves from unsafe people and situations. Awareness of the problem and knowledge of what to do to prevent sexual abuse, harassment, and assault are keys to being safe. Skill-building techniques in self-protection and seeking assistance through modeling, role-plays, and group interaction is taught. Age-appropriate curriculums are school district approved and updated to meet the needs of students. Multiple sessions are currently being presented ranging from pre-K to the high school level.
VOICES of Stephenson County is in need of volunteers to serve as Sexual Assault Advocates. On-call advocates provide 24-hour crisis intervention services to victims of sexual assault or sexual abuse at the FHN Freeport Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department. Advocates also participate in special projects to provide community awareness of agency services. Advocates are certified in a 40 Hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training cirriculm.
